Based in the French cutlery capital, the Thiers Issard company has played an important role in the history of straight razors. It is the last French company to produce straight razors.
Founded in 1884 by blacksmith Pierre Thiers, the company has manufactured straight razors since its very beginnings. The Thiers-Issard name is the combination of Pierre Thier's and his wife's (Issard) surnames : thus Pierre Thiers distinguises his company from those of the rest of his family, a long line of razor-manufacturers.
Production diversification occured in the early 20th century with the development of lines of kitchen and butcher's knives ... In 1929 Pierre Thiers died.
Pierre Thiers son, trained by Pierre Thiers himself assisted his mother in taking over the company. Louis Thiers then took the helm of the company.
In 1985, the company was sold by the Thiers family to Gilles Reynewaeter but the production has remained the same: made with the finest materials and with the expertise of the best workers.
