French artisanal making.
Snakewood comes from a South-American tree. It is extremely dense and tough, which is why it used to be the material of choice for printing stamps.
Its spotted veins are reminiscent of snake sin, which is why it is called Snakewood. Be careful though, do not mix it up with Snakeskin wood from Guyana, which is rather less dense, less rare and less precious.
Snakewood is a small tree, which is why only small objects can be made out of this species, such as violin bows, luxury pens and of course knife-handles.
Wood is a living material which requires proper care to remain beautiful. To be sure to keep your knife for years, ban dishwashers and do not wash your knife in water, simply use a wet cloth to wipe the blade clean.
