French artisanal making.
An ebony tree can grow up to 30m high and is exclusively found in the tropical regions of Africa. It is easily recognisable by its characteristic dark-brown to black colour wood. It can be like marble or be a quite uniform shade of black.
Ebony has such high resistance to humidity that it is virtually rot-proof.
Ebony is one of the heaviest and most dense woods you can find, so dense it doesn't even float!

Izmir is also a town in western Turkey. It is the country's second port and its third town. Though less charming than Istanbul, Izmir has a lively sea-front and its old town has remained highly picturesque. The world-renowned stone bears the name of the town where the international marble show is organised each year.
