Artisanal French making
Originally from La Vienne, the St. Martin has the distinctive feature of being one of those rare knives not to have come from the farming community.
According to some 19th century documents, it was used in particular by clergymen.
The St. Martin has always been a sturdy knife with a solid bolster. The oldest model to be found in the archives was made by Alphonse St-Joanis-Mondière (1883-1948). It sported a bird’s beak handle and 6 stainless steel rivets decorated with exposed rosettes.
