G10 is a fibreglass epoxy composite laminate. The material was introduced in the 1950s for the aeronautic industry.
An intermediary black layer is inserted between the metal plate and the piece of orange G10.
12C27 steel blade (surgical stainless steel), 3mm thick, with a hardness of 56-57 HRC
It is ground (giving the blade its bevel), polished and honed.

Made from two 0.8 cm thick pieces of orange G10, carved by hand to obtain its characteristic curves.

2 stainless steel plates  are guillochéd and riveted between the spring and handle to  ensure supple closing of the knife and enduring solidity.
Forged steel plates. The Bee  is arc-welded, thus melting both metals into one. The guilloché work is then carved.
Closed size: 12 cm
Opened size: 23 cm

Made 100% in Thiers in France
Delivered in a black magnetic box with certificate of origin and lifetime warranty

Is it possible to clap shut your Laguiole without damaging the blade?

Thanks to advances made in the cutlery industry, it is perfectly possible to clap shut your Laguiole without damaging the blade.

A bladestop is inserted into the spring in all our Laguiole design models. The heel of the blade closes against the bladestop located underneath the bee, which acts as a shock absorber. Your blade is therefore preserved perfectly intact!
In old farms, the man of the house would clap shut his Laguiole to show that the meal was over.

Did you know?
Laguiole, originally pronounced Layole, owes its name to the town of Laguiole in Aveyron, which continues to produce knives to this day. The celebrated knife has experienced renewed interest since 60s, but it is mainly manufactured by cutlers in the Thiers region.
