A little background history...
Thiers is the name of a pocket knife design patented by the Couté de Tié Confrèrerie.
The brotherhood was founded, in Thiers, where it still resides to this day. Its mission is to ensure compliance with the procedures and traditions peculiar to Thiers cutlery manufacture.
Thus, thanks to the vigilant eye of expert cutlers, every aspect of the manufacture and sale of the Thiers knife is inspected and monitored for compliance. A special Guild establishes specific rules governing the making, ethics and localities for the manufacturing of this knife. Thus, anyone purchasing a Thiers knife has the guarantee of an authenticated object.
The blade is systematically engraved with a maker’s mark to guarantee compliance with the Guild’s directives and as such has the approval of the Council formed to validate all Thiers knives.

This is a great little pocket Knife. However it was not as well finished as the custom laguiole I purchased from this site But then a custom knife is not mass produced.. For the price its a great EDC knife fo keeping in pocket stylish and ergonomic. Very Nice
